As an entrepreneur, business person or however you characterize yourself starting out we all dream of big contracts. The question you really have to ask yourself is do you have the capacity to complete the job? In the past couple years I have passed up on opportunities that I was not 100% sure that I had the capacity to do. When working with larger companies and organizations that give out these contracts they are often looking for more than the cheapest bidder. Quality matters. If you’re not able to deliver on that quality on a larger scale it might be a good idea to pass on that project. Why pass? You pass because it is better to pass than take it on and fail. If you can’t deliver the product or service you may end up burning a bridge with a company and damaging your reputation.
This all goes back to a reoccurring theme of knowing yourself. Know what you’re capable of but even more important know what you aren’t capable of. Just because you can’t handle it now does not mean you will never get to that point. Have PATIENCE!
